In December 2016, GMAP celebrated it’s 10 Year Anniversary. On Friday February 3rd, GMAP invited its collaborators, partners and friends in Geneva to look at the road travelled in the last 10 years, and the way ahead. Dr. Ann-Kristin Sjoberg, President of GMAP, Ambassador Stefano Toscano, Director of the GICHD and Arianna Calza-Bini, Director of GMAP shared with us, in their respective speech, the early challenges of GMAP and the progress made in making mine action more inclusive and more sustainable. Arianna Calza-Bini also highlighted the organisation’s plans for the future to expand to the broader human security sector, which involves Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR), Countering and Preventing Violent Extremism (PVE/CVE) and undertaking broad-based social impact assessments in the field of gender and diversity. GMAP also screened for the first time a short video, especially produced for GMAP’s 10 Year Anniversary. GMAP would like to thank all who came for the celebration, as well as all of its past and present partners for their support and collaboration. Here is to another 10 year to continue to ensure that mine action activities benefit all!
